Community Partners

The Girl Reports curriculum is designed to be adaptable and scalable based on cultural and educational context, the needs of participants, and access to resources such as electricity and technology. Therefore, partnering and collaborating with host organizations that are embedded in the communities we serve, is critical. When connecting with potential partners, we begin by assessing their community’s and organization’s needs, and preferences.

Lumbini, Nepal

The Karuna Girls School (KGS) in Lumbini, Nepal is Girl Reports’ flagship site. This region of Nepal has some of the highest rates of child marriage, female illiteracy, and infant and mother mortality. By writing, organizing, and publishing their own news magazine, our budding journalists learn important transferable skills and they learn to ask questions about their society and their rights. Our
program gives them the opportunity to develop their ‘voice’ and share their perspectives with the world while gaining critical exposure to different perspectives and environments outside of their villages.

Our Partners

The Lumbini Social Service Foundation

The Lumbini Social Service Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded and managed by the local Lumbini community.

Upcoming Locations

Girl Reports is currently looking for refugee-serving partners in the Tampa Bay area. We aim to support their integration into our community and encourage their pursuit of higher education and gainful employment as adults.
